Hello - hoping someone might be able to advise if we have scope to appeal. From reading past posts this looks like a well-documented 34J PCN - Being in a bus lane - BUS GATE LANGSETT RD near RIPLEY ST (Sheffield) 17/11/2021 at 07:25 Unfamiliar with area - not local Car lights on Confused with tram lines and signage not clear By the time driver realised the bus gate it was unclear how to avoid it I don't know if it will work but: I have tried to post pictures of the two-sided PCN. I have tried to post pictures of two of the three thumbnails - the first one is practically black in the letter but online you can just about see registration plate. I took a video of the 20 second CCTV footage but it is too big to load here. It just shows the car driving down the bus gate as in the photos. Thank you in advance to anyone offering advice. |

We've seen this location before and unless the car was hired or leased, there are no solid grounds of appeal as far as I'm aware. However they commit themselves to re-offering the discount, so there's nothing to be lost in giving it a go.
I have to say the signage seems perfectly clear, if it had been a no entry sign rather than a prescribed bus route sign, I doubt you would have driven past it. The fact that you might be more familiar with one sign and less familiar with another is obviously irrelevant. Sheffield has a pretty comprehensive policy document here https://democracy.sheffield.gov.uk/Data/Cab...0Policy.doc.pdf but I can't see anything that would help. Your best bet might be to make a plea for discretion and hope that they mess up the response. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

Many thanks for the reply - kind of you to take the time.
I will write requesting discretion as you suggest, may keep fingers crossed but won’t hold my breath! Thanks again. |
