Hi,
Just out of interest I decided to check whether my MOT date (12th April) has been moved 6 months yet on the Gov.uk, and was a bit surprised to find out that my tax expired 25 minutes ago biggrin.gif

Being a good, law abiding citizen rolleyes.gif I went straight to the website to pay up (after digging out the unopened reminder), only to be told

Renew vehicle tax service is currently unavailable

This service is currently unavailable as we are making changes to the vehicle tax rates announced in the recent Budget.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try later.

There is a tax by phone option, but I'd rather wait until the website is back up.

The car is currently sat on the driveway and, with the lock down, likely won't be driven for a while. My understanding is that it is an offence to even keep it on the driveway untaxed but can't see any mention of how that is enforced, because it can't be clamped there.

So, I'd like to know if, in reality it will be fine to leave it there untaxed until I can do the renewal online.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Unless they come up with some way to taper the extensions off there will still be a long period of double the demand, though - and I doubt the system has enough capacity for that over a 6 month period.

Council MOT test centres never seem to be that busy to be honest.

Possibly - but they're few and far between compared with all the other test centres.
