Hi all,
Have got an email today regarding a new consultation re penalty charges in London: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/general/pe...=penalty-charge Covers congestion charge, bus lanes and YBJs. The proposal is to up the penalty for contraventions to £160 (from the current £130). The usual "discount" will still apply. This consultation will run until 10 November. |

I don't understand. Inflation isn't as high as that, so how can they justify such a large amount?
If someone can afford £130 just now, they can easily afford £160. This is yet another tax/fine which will be an issue to the poorest in society yet again. If they are hellbent on creating a deterant, why not introduce mandatory community service, forcing people to give up their time. This would stop a lot of the 'serial offenders' out there who essentially buy illicit parking. |
