Hi All,

Will try to keep this short and sweet! I was travelling along a stretch of road to visit a friend last night I've driven along for years, where there has always been a speed camera I slowed to ensure my speed was below 30MPH and thought I saw a flash behind me, looked at my speed and thought not possible I'm doing like 28... driving home that night on the same bit of road, again doing 30 and definitely got flashed as clear as day. Got home and did a google search to find that this stretch of road is now 20MPH. I know i'm totally at fault for not paying attention to the new signage... obviously I'm concerned that I was flashed not once but twice and accumulating a large number of points on my license. In your opinions is it likely that I will be offered the option of a speed awareness course given that it was possibly 2 offences in one evening? I am seriously panicking! Thanks in advance for your help! (Sorry to clarify I was doing around 28-30mph in each instance as I thought it was 30mph.)

You should be offered a course for one offence, provided (a) the offence was in England or Wales and (b) you haven't done a SAC in the past three years (based on theoffence dates).

Thanks It was in Kingston Upon Thames. (Hampton Court Road to be precise.)
I've not been on a SAC in the last year
Sorry not sure what GSV means (I did check the Acronyms thread!)

Last THREE years for a SAC, not last year!

GSV=Google Street View

Unfortunately those images pre-date the introduction of a 20mph limit along Hampton Court Road, so they're not a lot of use. Because of the street lighting along that road the council is meant to have put in repeaters every 200m along the affected section; presumably you didn't notice them at the time, but have you checked that they're actually present?

Yes they are unfortunately I didn't notice them last night, but they are definitely there. Its a new thing apparently enforced just this year. Obviously if i need to be punished that's fair enough I know that not noticing signage isn't a defence I am just concerned about having to take points because it happened twice. If there is the option to do a SAC I would prefer that

If you qualify (criteria are simple) you are certain to be offered a course for one offence. You will get points for the other.
