Recently our area has been added to the Merton CPZ and we've had to buy permits for our cars. I had a question regarding parking on the space in front of our drive.
An example is in the following Google Maps link: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4151652,-...3312!8i6656 You can see in the example the grey gold on the right hand side parked on the space just before the driveway. We always used to park like this but now the roads are all marked with a single yellow line and I'm not sure where we stand in regards to parking in this space. Any input would be much appreciated. |

parked on the space just before the driveway. Was always a contravention anyway, i.e. off- carriageway; an offence in London since 1974. now the roads are all marked with a single yellow line and I'm not sure where we stand in regards to parking in this space. If the SY continues across that access track then that's a contravention too as the yellow line applies up to the property boundary. -------------------- |

Why do you park there which I presume is Council property and between the hedges is a pavement/ footpath. Cant you park on your drive . Others will advise but I believe the yellow lines are effective up to the property line ( where your property starts) Dunno how the CPZ affects all that |

I think OP needs to contact local councillors, as before the yellow lines and CPZ, parking would have been banned under the long-standing London off-carriaegway parking ban. Clearly this was not enforced, but now the yellow lines and CEOs ever anxious to pounce to make their PCN quota, it becomes an issue. There is surely no harm done by owners parking their cars there, no doubt because there is more than one car per house nowadays.

Just any chance to get more cash- creating a problem where one probably doesn't exist . They'll be ticketing for parking there now and telling hoseholders they need dropped kerbs. |

OP, this thread is gobbledegook.
but now the roads are all marked with a single yellow line and I'm not sure where we stand in regards to parking in this space. we've had to buy permits for our cars. Can we please start at the beginning. Not aged GSV, but current photos. And if you have a PCN, post it, both sides, with any council photos. |

Others will advise but I believe the yellow lines are effective up to the property line ( where your property starts) Dunno how the CPZ affects all that Used to park there as we have multiple cars. We can and do park on the drive, but it was just a norm that sometimes we'd park there in the middle. Because CEOs will be on their rounds there. Exactly this. One of my neighbours got a PCN last week hence why I thought I'd ask those who are more knowledgeable in the area I think OP needs to contact local councillors, as before the yellow lines and CPZ, parking would have been banned under the long-standing London off-carriaegway parking ban. Clearly this was not enforced, but now the yellow lines and CEOs ever anxious to pounce to make their PCN quota, it becomes an issue. There is surely no harm done by owners parking their cars there, no doubt because there is more than one car per house nowadays. This is exactly what I was wondering about and someone has mentioned to me. We have been parking there for well over 14 years. Now all of a sudden because there are yellow lines CEOs are ticketing for parking in the middle too. I've not received any ticket but a neighbor has. It is more of a general knowledge question to figure out whether we can do anything about it or not as we have been using the space for parking for over 14 years and now all of a sudden CEOs are issuing tickets for it. |

"All of a sudden"? Didn't the council advertise their intentions? Wasn't that the time to do something about it? |

All of a sudden issuing tickets for parking in the space between the property and the road. See GSV in first post for image. Prior to the permits being introduced on our road, parking on this space was never an issue because CEOs were never to be seen on our road. |

But what 666 is aking is Didn't the Council give any warning or consultation that these new restictions were being introduced and if they did why didn't the householders affected try to do something about it |

OP, this is still not making sense.
You cannot have a ‘permit’ to park on a yellow line, this relates to parking places. It is possible to have part-time parking places and yellow lines, but they wouldn’t(would they???) put a parking place adjoining the dropped footway because then anyone with an applicable permit could park there and you wouldn’t be able to get out. So I’m confident(ish) that there isn’t parking place at the dropped footway. But can we please, please, please have photos of what is there. But what 666 is aking is Didn't the Council give any warning or consultation that these new restictions were being introduced and if they did why didn't the householders affected try to do something about it Yes they told us about the yellow lines and the permits being introduced. However we were not aware that parking on the space between the road and the property's driveway was a contravention until a neighbor received a ticket. OP, this is still not making sense. I will upload a picture later today after work Thanks all for the input thus far. |

Parking in the space between the road and the property's driveway. Are you sure the PCN really says that? I don't think so. If not, what EXACTLY is the contravention on the PCN? -------------------- |

all of a sudden CEOs are issuing tickets for it. 'It'? What exactly are the PCNs for, i.e. for what contravention? Parking in the space between the road and the property's driveway. No such contravention. So what is the allegation on the PCNs ? You might think it irrelevant but it's crucial to the issues raised so far. -------------------- |
