Hi all,
I have a couple of questions that I would love to get some advice on. I regularly commute to Westminster by car and I am trying to figure out if I could somehow get around the 4 hour parking limit to make my life a little bit easier. I drive a Plug-In Electric Vehicle and thus only need to pay for 10 minutes of parking and can stay for the maximum chargeable time for free. I have two questions: 1. I have noticed that some shared use bays do not explicitly state 'Max 4 hours' in their signage (e.g. https://goo.gl/maps/L7JcHHbcvJoWvNJB6). Please could someone advise if I am okay to use these beyond the 4 hour limit? 2. I have also noticed that there are always private vans parked in the paid bays near my office which stay well beyond 4 hours, sometimes for a few days. I don't think they have any kind of special agreement with Westminster as I often see their drivers paying for parking. How do they get past the 4 hour restriction? Thanks! |

EV’s to me make more sense currently as a second car, so the e-up (pet) or Zoe. In the markets where Tesla sell most cars the irony is that even the $100k Model S is being bought as a second car. Here's an idea to help the environment, don't have a second car. The emissions involved in manufacturing a car are very significant indeed. The wider point I was making is that, because an EV with comparable range to an IC car costs a ton of money, the market is not sufficiently mature to say all subsidies can be scrapped. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

What's wrong with the Outlander? Its a cynical marketing ploy, its meant to be their environmentally friendly car and they fitted an old much inferior engine (compared to that which is available in the petrol only car) to save money making it less efficient that it easily could have been. In addition research shows that circa 85% of PHEVs in London rarely if ever actually plug in (making them less efficient than the optimised hybrids that don't get the plug-in incentive) making it really not that clean at all, good for reaping incentives though! Do you have a source for this information? Not saying you're wrong but, following a google search, I cannot find any information which backs up your position. |

I work in the automotive industry, we got one and benchmarked it when they first came out, we then looked at the other engines in the lineup and it’s clear they cost cut and put a less efficient engine in the PHEVs as buyers look at the headline numbers and not the reality.
