Got two speeding tickets.... one from 14th October 2020 and one 15th october 2020.

I moved house July 2020 and it's possible I didnt update my address on V5.

I dont know how they got my new address and name. Possibly new keeper as I sold it 20th october?

But online is shows as having service NIP on the 15th... so possibly to old address I'm not sure...

So i probably know the answer but are there options available besides points or lesser points?

These two generating 6 points will push me to 9 and affect my job.

Well in some ways it's good news that they have tracked you down (possibly via insurance). Otherwise it's likely you would have (not) received court paperwork and have been subsequently sentenced in your absence (12 points) - and would be looking at a Statutory Declaration to remove the convictions.

It will be too late for a course now to avoid points. Indeed, it may be going to court anyway if there's insufficient time to issue fixed penalty offers.

They have to commence a prosecution by 14/15 April - so if you respond quickly they will probably issue 2 x 3 points £100 fixed penalties.

If you don't respond quickly then they won't be able to issue a CoFP that has 28 days suspended enforcement period (which would take it past the 6 months limitation). There is court sentencing guidance for fixed penalty equivalent sentencing which can include administrative difficulties such as this. (Although not updating your v5 wasn't outside your control)

You don't mention the speeds involved.

While the minimum you could expect for each event at this stage is 3 points each, you could receive more than that if it goes passed the point they could issue a fixed penalty. So if they were progressed to SJPN, you would need to push for being sentenced at the equivalent fixed penalty rate.

So both would normally be offered a fixed penalty.

The speed spike camera’s on the A1 just past Grantham where they a building a new underpass. Got done there myself as it’s easy to think it’s the end of the average speed camera.

You could potentially argue vague locus but it’d be a big risk.

Yes that's the one in grantham.

Need to sort it out asap, if it does to court in screwed as I'll be out of the country from may.

Need to see pics to see if it was me or the wife driving too! Most likely me, she usually drives on the slower side.

The court case can be dealt with without you having to attend as long as you’re getting the post checked.
