Update from MHCLG:
Parking Code Most interesting update is on the graduated charges - some as low as £50 (down to £25 with early 50% discount). What's even more interesting is the cap on charges for entering a wrong registration number, capped at just £20, discounted to £10 for the first 14 days. That will lose the industry a fortune.

The BPA had already incorporated 'minor' and 'major' keying errors into their CoP. This will harmonise the practice across all ATA's. One has to feel some* sympathy that the operators income will be slashed by not actually penalising genuine errors. Perhaps they should use technology that actually detects such errors to prevent them wasting their time sending out pointless PCN's. * actually none This post has been edited by Jlc: Mon, 22 Mar 2021 - 18:18 -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

And possible an end to Independent Appeal Service (IAS)? To merge into a Single Appeal.

And possible an end to Independent Appeal Service (IAS)? To merge into a Single Appeal. Yes, a single appeals body seems likely. But hopefully a lot of the changes will actually negate the need to appeal or raise court claims as the cost will drop to something many may actually see as reasonable (if 'guilty') and pay instead, e.g. £25 for an overstay is far more palatable than the £60 today! (must be - 14 days) however knowing the amout of companies that blatently admit they do not abide by POFa2012 , , just how many people will benifit from the £10 within 14 days |

I hear that 80% of people pay ~£60 on the nail to get rid of it, as I have actually. Dropping that to £25 with therefore zap half the income. Many POPLA appeals get paid for by the extra £40. I'd expect 'the industry' to be fighting back on some grounds, possibly that they can't be viable anymore etc.
I don't think many people with no blue badge now park in disabled spaces, I rarely see that anyway. |
