Recently our area has been added to the Merton CPZ and we've had to buy permits for our cars. I had a question regarding parking on the space in front of our drive.

An example is in the following Google Maps link:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4151652,-...3312!8i6656

You can see in the example the grey gold on the right hand side parked on the space just before the driveway. We always used to park like this but now the roads are all marked with a single yellow line and I'm not sure where we stand in regards to parking in this space.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Councils and thus the public always seem to confuse CPZs and resident permit bays, perhaps because they go together.

When they decided to make my old address part of the Saracens Parking Zone put a few signs on posts nearby, didn't actually ask us if we wanted them, but even then I wouldn't have agreed to yellow lines, just permit bays.

What is the use of yellow lines to residents?
