I received a NIP in the post today, first speeding offence since I started driving 10 years ago.
Driving off the M606 towards bradford via mayo avenue, I’ve always thought it was a 40, I’ve never seen any signs in driving that route 10 years. Turns out it’s a 30... whoops.. I read another post about someone who had done the same thing but didn’t have grounds to fight as without speed signs, it’s 30mph... fair enough My NIP however is missing the actual speed limit of the offence. Pic attached, I doubt it is a way out but anyone know for sure? If not I’ll just hope for the course Thank you in advance |

No way out, the limit does not have to be shown.

The only thing that has to be on a NIP is:
The alleged offence (e.g. speeding contrary to RTA 1988...) The date and time of the alleged offence The location. The actual speed and limit are not required to be stated. |

My NIP however is missing the actual speed limit of the offence Right at the top of your scan it says 'Speeding - exceed 30mph on a restricted road'? -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

The speed limit is shown on the NIP, but has been omitted further down.
The NIP must specify the nature, location and time of the alleged offence (which it seems to do). There is no requirement that the notice must strictly comply with some precise template, with every box ticked. N.B. the 'required' details themselves are "merely directory" - if you knew what the nature of the allegation was and which incident it related to, then any errors would not invalidate the notice. -------------------- Andy
Some people think that I make them feel stupid. To be fair, they deserve most of the credit. |

...but has been omitted further down. Indeed, says for variable speed limit offences only at the bottom. (So deliberately omitted) This post has been edited by Jlc: Tue, 18 Feb 2020 - 21:59 -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
