Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have just had a Notice of Intended Prosecution through which was issued on the 13th July 2018. The actual date of the speeding offence was on 9 April 2018 over three months previous. I was wondering where I stand with contesting this, what the dangers are, and what the charges and penalties are usually. The speed limit at the time was 30 and the notice tells me I was going 39mph.
Many thanks for any help. I apologise if this is a frequent question :S |

That excess (if England/Wales) would be a course (Around £95) or fixed penalty (3 points £100).
I presume your 'late' question is around the often discussed 14 days? Is it your vehicle? i.e. you have the v5. (If it is, did you acquire the vehicle or move around the time of the allegation). Regardless, the request to name the driver remains. If you want a course you will have to respond pronto! (As they often won't allow you to book one past 4 months) ...what the dangers are Without a defence it would get very expensive... (Costs alone are list at starting from £620 by the CPS) This post has been edited by Jlc: Tue, 17 Jul 2018 - 19:44 -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

Who is the vehicle registered to? If it's you, have you checked that the address is correct on the V5
It's a lot easier if you complete the NIP Wizard ... |

The vehicle is a three year hire car so the car is technically not mine and I do not have it anymore. I didn't have the V5 documents but I was the one who hired it. I didn't move around the time of the allegation but did move and change my address with DVLA in late June. Many thanks for the help

Ok, it's taken a while to bounce around before coming to you. Only the 1st NIP has to satisfy the 14 day rule - that is likely to be a lease company.

If you reply quickly, you may just be in time for a speed awareness course offer
