Wondering if someone can help. Yesterday I parked in a disabled bay as I always do with a valid blue badge and time displayed and there were others all parked along the bays. Upon returning to the car, I discovered a ticket, and got really wound up so didnt bother looking, there was another person parked behind and they had also got a parking ticket and were you could see she was also annoyed, and frustrated. I left and upon returning late last night found that these suspended parking signs were up for 3 bays (see the pictures below- I'm not disputing they wern't there earlier). To me when you park on the right hand side these would not be visible and in my mind the notice may not be valid/illegal? I also thought barriers are usually out to stop parking but the barriers are flush to the building. If i'm wrong i am wrong but could really do without paying for something i and others parked didn't see .
I should note this road is a dead end, shops on the left with a very small car park beside, and disabled bays on the right of the road with no connection to the carpark owned by Farmfoods (FF have a seperate parking firm) which is operated by local council. With the amount of notices on the works barriers/boarding would you really consider reading all of them when your in a busy place, often backed up with other cars trying to turn around or get in a parking bay? For best advice post up here all sides of the NtO. +1, show us the Notice to Owner and then we can look at submitting formal reps. Just out of interest, I've since found out Sutton's rejection letters are auto-spat out by a piece of software, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBWvEC5kVqo So if they haven't considered your representations properly, that's why. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

I would say you should re-issue exactly the same representations this time round, if they mess up the Notice of Rejection in the same way they messed up the informal one, that'll be a clear cut procedural impropriety that should win on its own.

Hey,
So i got a grey card through the door yesterday saying someone hadnt paid enough postage and therefore I needed to pay £2 to receive something. Intrigued knowing I wasnt expecting anything I went and got it, and it was only a letter from Sutton Council! Literally a blank windowed envelope which you could just see my address through. Anyway it turns out that they tried to excuse having previously had the suspension notice up before this one commenced as "for a different reason/purpose" however they are very sorry that my initial concern was not looked at properly and that the signage was incorrectly displayed for 9 months (has apparently now been amended) and therefore will not be taking this matter further!- Yay I dont mind paying £2 over £110! Thanks everyone for your input but especially CP. Its really appreciated. |

Well I would mind ! It really is disgraceful of them to kick you in the teeth for postage like this. I would raise a complaint to the council.

I would raise a complaint to the council. +1, I would email them and demand a refund of the £2, just email a copy of the grey card, and the envelope with the Royal Mail "not enough postage" sticker. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php
