APOLOGIES: added likely reason for delay - though I cannot be sure.
Hi, Received a NIP from speeding offense committed on 20/11/18. I was doing 38 in a 40 zone. Date on NIP is 9 Feb 2019 and received 14/02/2019. I tried to use the NIP wizard but it comes up as not applicable because of the time between offense and NIP - and it sent me to the RAC legal advice post. As far as aware this is the first letter received. It is my personal car and was purchased end of JUNE 2018. I am attaching an image of the NIP. There may be a reason for late notice. I moved houses on 09/11/18. I sent off notification to DVLA of new address within a few days, but I now see date on new logbook is 04/01/19 What is the advice for this? So the NIP would have been sent to your old address. Did you have mail redirection in place, I'm guessing not?

NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - November 2018 Date of the NIP: - 81 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 86 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - A10 Stamford Hill nr Homleigh Rd S/B N16 (1571), UNITED KINGDOM Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - Not known If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I was driving at night and seems I was driving over limit. NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - No Was there a valid reason for the NIP's late arrival? - Unsure Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes Were you driving? - Yes Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
Generated by the PePiPoo NIP Wizard v3.3.2: Thu, 21 Feb 2019 20:56:16 +0000 So the NIP would have been sent to your old address. Did you have mail redirection in place, I'm guessing not? Unfortunately not. Would the letter I received refer to this at all? This post has been edited by skybooks: Thu, 21 Feb 2019 - 21:01 |

Well yes, so there was a valid reason for the delay. This speed qualifies for a course, provided you have not previously done one for an offence within the three years before this latest offence.

By far, yes. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

The NIP clearly says 30 limit, an easily understood typo by the OP I would have thought.

Get it sent off pronto as most police areas don't offer courses after 4 months
