NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - May 2018 Date of the NIP: - 15 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 17 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - A650 Otley Road, Leeds, between Welburn drive & Ancaster road, United kingdom Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - Didn't know I had tripped the camera. First I knew was the Nip today. Am I correct in thinking as it was sent on day 15 it is too late? NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - No Was there a valid reason for the NIP's late arrival? - No NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

Possibly, however there are a number of valid reasons this NIP was issued after 15 days:
- Are you the registered keeper? - If you are, does the V5C have the correct name and address? - Did you recently buy the vehicle? What is the date of the alleged offence and what is DocRef Date on page 2 of the V5C? |

Yes, I had only bought the car 2 weeks before the offence. The dealer completed the v5 details, I haven't got the new one in my name but I did get one to say I no longer own my previous car I part exchanged with a refund of the tax.

Then it is highly likely when the police obtained the RK data it returned the previous owners details. If so you will have no defence based on a late NIP.
