I've not used this company, but was looking into the feasibility of being in a similar situation. They give you an address to use and then they scan any mail received and forward to you by email as I understand it.
I believe there are quite a few companies offering this type of service.

As far as insurance is concerned, the address is the least of his concerns. A "normal" policy will not cover him for the sort of trip he's planning, but presumably he already knows this.

For mail forwarding, surely one of his friends (hint) would be happy to do it?

An interesting service but by no means cheap.

For the insurance side, I'd go to a broker and explain what he needs, this is the sort of thing the likes of Adrian Flux will cover. If no joy, drop me a message and I can put you in touch with someone.

Worse case scenario you call your insurer, which sends you a green card and ta-da, you can drive across the 48 member countries of the Green Card System, details of the scheme are explained at https://www.cobx.org/article/3/green-card-system https://www.mib.org.uk/making-a-claim/accid...stem-explained/ and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International...een_card_system

Just because, you know, international travel existed prior to the EU...

Not used it myself, but I've heard from a number of canal boat dwellers that boatmail.co.uk provide a decent enough service for their needs - they not only provide an address for delivery, but also scan and email your post to you.
