Hello all
Hope this is the right place to post this as it's a PCN 'fine' from the council for basically driving onto a bus lane for a few seconds to turn into a road. I was told to post here as I'd get more help. What really grinds my gears is I tried to do the right thing as when I turned the corner and saw the sign that I would be going into a bus lane, I would have ended up blocking the incoming buses behind me, and thus making the buses wait much longer if I stayed in my position and merged into the traffic lane when I was stationed due to traffic. I (presumably) informally appealed this via Camden's website. Explaining that, look I only wanted to turn right, I was outside the bus lane originally, but blocking the entrance of it as I came around the corner. It seemed like common sense I just go forward, turn right and everybody is getting on with their day, instead this was rejected. Now I'm wondering what do I need to do? Am I wrong here? I should mention that they said they will respond within 10 days, and without counting weekends, they went over that. Their website also isn't able to allow me to see the video footage, because you must have IE 8 or later, yet all the browsers I've tried (latest versions), Edge, Firefox, and Chrome do not work. Oh and I tried IE 11 (the one installed on my Windows 10 OS) and that doesn't even work, so that "or later" part is false. So essentially they aren't sharing the video footage either. So I'm being fined £65 for using common sense, trying to do the right thing and essentially driving onto the bus lane for a few seconds. What I should have done is blocked the lane outside it, then stayed in traffic for 5 minutes or so and then turned. Sounds right to you? We need to see the video, so call them and explain you're unable to view it.
Also post all sides of PCN. -------------------- |

Its difficult to picture the scenario without seeing the video or knowing where you were so a link to GSV could help or if you can indicate the excat location but I'd suggest for the future if it's a choice between going in to a Bus Lane or holding up buses or other traffic then do the latter ...just make them wait .

Hi
Sorry, took a little while to scan the files. https://i.imgur.com/xLR48qF.png (First letter) https://i.imgur.com/pfZVTxP.png (My online reply) https://i.imgur.com/b1uYp8f.png (Their online reply) (removed any private info). Here's the scenario. I was where the black BMW is in the picture. https://i.imgur.com/TS1OdPU.jpg (It might look like the bus lane sign is obvious from there, but with traffic and vehicles in front, it wasn't as apparent. So when I turned into Bloomsbury street, I positioned myself to the right side of the lane to make sure I'm correctly positioned to the right when it comes to my right turn, (not seeing the bus lane sign) and by that time already positioning outside it blocking potential buses. I saw that I was potentially blocking a clear bus lane, so it made logical sense to just go forward. https://i.imgur.com/v3f74SZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4Q0uzXl.png You might be thinking, well that's far from the turn, but this picture shows, actually not really. I'm being charged this much money to basically being on the bus lane for a few seconds, turning right on a clear road. https://i.imgur.com/LcKcatv.jpg I wanted to make it clear that I had no intention and I do not go in bus lanes anytime I feel like, so I understand the bus lane code of conduct and I try to respect the road as much as possible, but in this case, they should just accept I'm using common sense here. I was clearly turning right, I wasn't trying to push in or block buses (which is the point of the bloody lane). Yes, next time I think I'll just be an ******** and we all become arseholes and sit there, blocking, rather that than avoid fines. > > but I'd suggest for the future if it's a choice between going in to a Bus Lane or holding up buses or other traffic then do the latter ...just make them wait . Wanted to be a good human being, but yeah, I've learned my lesson now. Next time, I'll just do that. If I have no case here. This post has been edited by Savas456: Fri, 20 Jul 2018 - 15:10 |

Looking at GSV and the photos on the PCN, pay the discount https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.5175419,-...3312!8i6656 My point was I was blocking the lane, in heavy traffic at the beginning of that road, when it was clear all the way to the end, so linking to that image doesn't really speak any context. Didn't just switch lane there either. If you PM me the details I'll get video - I've just done one for another Camden bus lane. Thank you. I'm going to try and get the video. I guess I'm a bit late today, so I'll contact them tomorrow/Monday, but would I call the same number given to pay for it and just ask? This is the same lane as Chaseman in the other thread.
Sadly it doesn't show your story and only puts you bang to rights. The answer in these situations is you have to block buses and wait, but you can test this of course with the adjudicator for only £130. Blocking traffic is not a contravention (except in yellow boxes and probably some other cases I can't think of). This post has been edited by stamfordman: Fri, 20 Jul 2018 - 18:30 |

Having seen the video, pay the discount. You gained an obvious advantage and an adjudicator would just throw the book at you.
