Hi, sorry if in wrong forum but not sure where else to put it.
Anyway, on way to work driving out of Portsmouth and came up to camera at start of M275 (this one: https://www.speedcamerasuk.com/database/SEH/seh018.htm) which is a Truvelo. I know the speed limit is 40 so was doing about 35 in right hand lane (camera covers 3 lanes, a slip road and 2 lanes for M275). As I was approaching the camera someone undertook me and as far as I can remember they reached the camera white lines a good few seconds before me, reckon he must of been doing about 50/55 and then rammed his brakes on about 100 yards past the camera. Now its always possible that 2 cars could pass over the camera white lines simultaneously so as the Truvelo uses sensors under the road I assume it would know and indicate which car was speeding. Is this correct?
Cheers,
Chris

Any pictures would show who had travelled the distance using the lines, and the road sensors should identify which lane the offending vehcile was in.

Should they? As far as I'm aware there is only one set of sensors, not one per lane, but the photo will tell the story.

Then your awareness is poor. Multi-lane Truvelo cameras usually indicate the lane.

I would be very interested to know if you get anything from this one.

I know the camera well and often see other vehicles passing it at well above the speed limit. They are vehicles that marked in such a way that they could, possibly, have 'local knowledge.'

Or just some good general knowledge.

The trigger speed for a 40mph camera is a true 46mph.The op was probably doing little more than a true 30mph when he was busy judging others 'speed'.That gives a possible 15mph safe difference. When your driving painfully slow it appears everyone is 'speeding'.

I drive on that road pretty well every day so always watch my speed through there. There is a set of lights a couple hundred yards or so before the camera as its a main route out of Portsmouth so is usually busy and during rush hour both lanes tend to crawl along. On this day I was held at the lights and once green off we all went in both lanes with me in the front of the right hand lane. Not sure where the car that undertook me came from but I know my indicated speed was about 35 and am pretty sure the other one hit the white lines a good few seconds before me.
Don't think the other car was local as he hit the brakes once past the camera and then stuck to the limit.

Wasn't there something in the papers a few years ago that the camera lens wasn't wide enough to cover the right hand most lane.

There was some reason they couldn't get the resolution if they fitted a different lens, so left it to 3 lane cover ?

Trying to find the issue of the news now .......
