Hi

Was breathalysed at a little over the limit, arrested, and taken to hospital (as airbag had deployed).

Several hours later a blood sample was taken for further testing. During the waiting period I was not allowed to drink water, but immediately after the blood test I was allowed water.

The nurse taking the blood agreed that not drinking water for so long could artificially increase the alcohol concentration in my blood. I complained before the test.

Seemed suspicious to me that immediately after the blood test I was allowed water.

Was it legal to deny me water for so long?

Best, PJ

nil by mouth for at least 6 several hours is standard if surgery is needed That includes water. In hospital the police would have no say if a doctor said that a patient needed water so it was not considered medically necessary
