NIP wizard answers
These are the answers you've given so far: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes Were you driving? - Yes Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England Complete the PACE witness statement. After reading about PACE, what are the outcomes after sending a PACE statement? When should the PACE statement be sent? After 6 months do I have to provide details of the driver, will they receive the fine and 3 points? Help will be much appreciated. Thanks. This post has been edited by adz: Tue, 26 Jun 2007 - 13:37 |

You need to go back, re-do the NIP Wizard and include the 'Additional Questions' on Page 2...
Paste the whole lot back into this thread when done.. |

After reading about PACE,
what are the outcomes after sending a PACE statement? When should the PACE statement be sent? After 6 months do I have to provide details of the driver, will they receive the fine and 3 points or is the NIP dropped? |

After reading about PACE, what are the outcomes after sending a PACE statement? When should the PACE statement be sent? After 6 months do I have to provide details of the driver, will they receive the fine and 3 points or is the NIP dropped? 1) You will likely be summoned to court however you have a greater chance of getting off with the current ECHR ruling due in a few days. However, you will likely be fined more than the normal £60 and will have costs + victims fee (£10). 2) The pace statement should be sent special delivery 27 days after the notice (so it arrives on day 28). 3) No, you have to provide within 28 days else you will be summoned to court for failure to provide driver details, landing you with probably 3 points and ~£300 fine (+ costs etc). If you do provide details, you will be offered a fixed penalty offer of 3 points and £60 fine (providing you don't already have 9 points). The 6 months you speak of is the time the CPS have to lay the information with the magistrates court (not to the date of the actual trial). |

Any tips? 3) What if I wasnt sure of who the driver was etc for the following 6 months and hope for time out, so that the NIP is dropped? |

Have a really good read under the FAQ's all the answers to your questions and the info you could possibly need will be there. |

The course is offered as an alternative to points and a fine for those caught speeding at 36-38mph in a 30mph zone, 47-49mph for those caught in a 40 mph zone and 58-59 mph in a 50 mph zone.
For further information ring 0800 328 1635 or log onto www.lancashireroadsafety.co.uk http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/corporate/new...amp;r=PR05/0448 The above info was in 2005. Anyone has more information on speed awareness course 2007, Lancashire. I was doing 58mph in 50mph zone does this mean I can take speed awareness course? |

It's one thread for each offence here but lots of help if you follow the rules. I did read on a Speed camera/Rd safety partnership website that they use a formula to decide who is offered a speed correctional/safety course.
It is only offered if the offending speed does not exceed the speed limit plus 10% of that speed limit plus two. In other words in a 30mph the top limit would be 30 plus 3 plus 2 = 35mph Or in a 40mph 40mph plus 4 plus 2 = 46mph 50mph plus 5 plus 2 = 57mph 60mph plus 6 plus 2 = 68mph 70mph plus 7 plus 2 = 79mph Anything that falls above those limits automatically excludes you from the opportunity of a course. The proposed formula was thought up by one of the regions chief constables. I hope this info is useful, can't find the original site but I'm sure if you searceh on Google you will find it. |

To answer your original Q though, the only difference is where it comes from, Kent, Scumbia and one other issue combine NIP/CoFP (they are of dubious legality, but are probably used to make their life easier and maximise profit) but that aside, there is nothing to be read into it!
