This is not a for ticket but a question regarding a discussion with an enforcement officer this morning.
I normally park my motorbike in a motorcycle bay in London. It is along a red route but comes within the Tower Hamlets borough. I have parked here for many with no issues. This morning a Tfl red route enforcement officer told me that 'things have changed' and that bikes can only be parked here for 5 minutes as it is a red route. I explained that I have been parking here for months with no issues. She said that they have been told to enforce this. I mentioned that there is no sign mentioning a restriction on parking for bikes or any mention of 5 minutes and that the red lines end next to the bays. She pointed at the standard red route sign. This motorcycle bay is next to a separate loading bay. The sign only refers to 20 minute restrictions for loading but no mention of motorcycle parking at all on the sign. It is interesting that there is no motorbike parking sign at this location. Was the officer right? I didn't want to risk the hassle of a PCN and appeals so I just moved for today. Unless they put a sign up saying you can only stop for 5 minutes, the TfL person you spoke to is talking absolute tosh. You could have noted their number with a view to making a complaint against them for providing misleading information, but the risk is that you then instigate TfL to fix the signage.

If there is a traffic order to make the bay limited stay it needs a sign to show the restriction.
The loading bay is a completely different bay and is unrelated. |

I cannot even see a sign for the motorbike bay.
It clearly is one due to the legend on the tarmac but with no sign, I would take it that a Motorbike can park there 24/7 for as long as they like. TFL occifer is a muppet |

There's absolutely no chance you were in the Loading Bay? If so then a 5 minute "observation period" would apply.
